DOT Inspections — Done at Your Yard, No Downtime
On-site 49 CFR Part 396 Appendix A DOT compliance inspections for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. We come to your yard so your trucks never sit in line at a shop, and you walk away with a signed inspection form the same day.

What a Legacy Fleet Care DOT Inspection Covers
Walked per 49 CFR Part 396 Appendix A — at Your Yard
Eight DOT systems, walked bracket-by-bracket on every visit. Each card below is a piece of the inspection — what we look at, what tolerance we hold it against, and what shows up on the signed form when we're done.
Service, parking, drums, rotors, hoses, ABS
Service brake clearance, lining thickness, drum/disc condition, parking brake hold, ABS self-test, and slack adjuster stroke — measured, not guessed.
Tread depth, inflation, wear pattern
Per-position tread depth against DOT reject thresholds (≥ 4/32" steer, ≥ 2/32" other), cold inflation per axle, and dual-tire contact pattern.
Headlights, signals, clearance, reflectors
Headlamps (high/low), turn signals front-side-rear, four-way flashers, clearance and marker lights, conspicuity tape, license / marker lamps.
Springs, air-ride, height control, shocks
Leaf springs, U-bolts, air-ride bags, equalizer bushings, height control valve, shock mounts and radius rods — read against DOT reject criteria.
Fifth wheel, pintle, drawbar, frame rails
Fifth-wheel jaw lock and top plate, pintle/drawbar lock and chains, frame rails, crossmembers, suspensions and body mounts — no cracks, no missing hardware.
Tanks, lines, exhaust, cargo securement
Fuel tank securement and cap seal, DEF level, exhaust leaks and DPF mounting, and 49 CFR 393.100 / 393.102 securement log basics.
Mirrors, wipers, belts, fire extinguisher, fuses
Driver seat belt, mirrors (flat / convex / hood), wipers and washers, horn (city + air), fire extinguisher charge and seal, reflective triangles, and chocks.
Bolted, no cracks or deformation
Rear impact guard mounted, no missing hardware; ICC bumper / underride guard free of cracks, dents, or deformation that would put your unit out of service.
Why On-Site Matters
Included at Every Inspection
The point of a mobile DOT inspection is that your trucks don't lose hours sitting in a shop lane. These are the things we hold the same on every job — they explain why fleets keep coming back instead of booking a shop.
On-Site at Your Yard
The technician comes to your dock, yard, or job site.
No Tow Required
Trucks never leave the route for a routine compliance check.
Same Technician Every Visit
Joseph walks the same fleet over time and learns its quirks.
Same-Day Paperwork
Signed DOT form delivered at the end of the visit, not days later.
Defects Log Filed Fast
Pass/fail lines back to your fleet manager within 24 hours.
Fully Licensed & Insured
Georgia Certified Safety Inspector; liability coverage on every job.
What You Walk Away With
Paperwork That Holds Up to a Roadside Check
Every Legacy Fleet Care DOT inspection comes with the same four deliverables. They land in your hands the day of the visit — paper or PDF, whichever your fleet manager prefers for the file.
Signed DOT Inspection Form
A signed 49 CFR Part 396 Appendix A inspection form, on the spot, with the technician’s credentials and date of inspection.
Defects & Repairs Log
Any line scored Fail is captured with date, technician initials, and the corrective action taken at the same visit.
14-Month Record Retention
Inspection record retained 14 months per 49 CFR 396.21(b)(1) — handed back as a paper or PDF file for your fleet record.
Optional Follow-Up Repair Quote
Defects we can’t clear in the same visit come back as a one-page scope-of-work quote; no second trip charge for the assessment itself.
§396.21 retention paired with §396.19 inspector qualification
Who This Is For
Built for Fleets That Can't Afford a Down Day
Small & Medium Fleets
5–50 unit mixed tractor and trailer pools that need a DOT log that holds up to a roadside check, on the schedule they actually run.
Owner-Operators
Single-truck operators who can’t afford a half-day lost to a shop visit — get the inspection at home base between loads.
Mixed Tractor / Trailer Pools
Yards running both power units and trailers against one maintenance budget — consolidated DOT records per unit, billed as one visit.
Schedule a DOT Inspection
Have a unit (or five) that needs a DOT inspection this month?
Tell us how many units, what they haul, and where they yard — we'll come back with a one-page proposal and a visit window. No commitment required to book the first inspection.
